The Shippex Shipping Calculator is designed to provide an estimated international shipping cost based on the information available at the time of your inquiry. While it offers a helpful price estimate, it does not represent the final shipping charge.

The final shipping cost is calculated only after your package arrives at a Shippex warehouse, where our team measures and inspects the shipment. Several factors can affect the final price, including:

  • Actual weight and volumetric (dimensional) weight
  • Package size and dimensions
  • Type of commodity
  • Declared value of the goods
  • Lithium battery restrictions
  • Dangerous goods regulations
  • Insurance requirements
  • Destination country and customs regulations
  • Courier-specific handling fees (DHL, FedEx, UPS, Aramex, and others)

Example: Shipping an iPhone from Apple

A customer purchased two new Apple iPhones after checking the Shippex shipping calculator. Based on the estimated weight, the calculator displayed an approximate shipping cost of $79.

However, once the package arrived at our warehouse, the final shipping quotation was approximately $190.

Why the difference?

Although the phones weighed only around 400 grams, smartphones contain lithium-ion batteries, making them a special regulated shipment. International couriers such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, and Aramex apply additional handling requirements, safety regulations, and, in many cases, higher transportation charges for devices containing lithium batteries. The high value of the shipment may also require shipping insurance, special documentation, and enhanced handling procedures.

As a result, the shipping cost is based on much more than the package’s weight alone.

Ship with Confidence

At Shippex, we believe in complete transparency. Our shipping calculator provides a useful estimate to help you plan your shipment, but the final shipping rate is always determined after physical inspection of the parcel.

This ensures you receive the most accurate quotation based on the shipment’s actual characteristics and the latest courier regulations.
